Awe in the face of it all
In July, when I was a little girl my mom would wake me up at midnight to see the Perseids meteor showers. We would set out a blanket on the wooden deck and look up at the inky dark sky, rolling our heads back and forth and up and down looking for shooting stars.
Out of nowhere, a light that would fall to the horizon and we’d gasp. It was magic.
It made me feel small in the best of ways. It made me feel connected to every other human on this earth in my smallness.
This month’s image is called We Gaze and depicts a circle of people gazing up at the night sky inspired by these memories I had as a kid.
A limited edition of just 24 hand pulled screen prints of We Gaze are now available here. They’re printed with beautiful deep blue and orange non-toxic ink and on high quality lavender paper.
We Gaze is one of 12 prints in the We Gather series. This series was born out my deep despair at the world and all the violence and hurt and a realization that gathering together is how we are going to survive and build thriving communities. We Pray, We Dance, We Celebrate, We Cultivate, We Show Up, We Share and now, We Gaze? Which one is your favorite? Keep an eye out each month for the next 5 which include some of my favorites.
I’m so grateful for all the support this community has offered and I care about making art accessible to as many folks as possible so I’m offering 30% off ALL prints from now until July 22nd. Use code PRINTS30 at checkout. The sale is my BIGGEST print sale of the year, so don’t miss out.
This time of year, I love reaching out for thoughts and feedback from this community, so if you have 3 minutes, I’d love to hear from you. (And you could win a $30 gift certificate for your time!)
Here’s to gazing up at the heavens. Here’s to waking up in the middle of the night to marvel at the world. Here’s to awe in the face of it all.
Take good care,
Jen
